ABE - The Association of Business Executives

The ABE is a Professional Management qualification pursued in 100 countries of the world and is one of the most attractive and flexible programmes of study available today.

Effective September 1997 students successful at the ABE Advanced Diploma can gain entry into the Final Year of the following three (3) Degree Options: BA (Hons) Business Accounting, BA (Hons) International Business Administration or BBA (Hons) Management. The BA Degrees will be awarded by the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, a fully accredited British University.


The ABE Programme consists of four parts:

1) CERTIFICATE in Business Management

2) DIPLOMA LEVEL 1 in Business Management

3) DIPLOMA LEVEL 2 in Business Management

4) ADVANCED DIPLOMA in Business Management


Special Benefits of the ABE Programme

1) Persons completing the Advanced Diploma can proceed to MBA programmes.

2) Persons completing any level of the ABE Programme are now able to switch over to Degree courses. Completion of the ABE Certificate and Diploma 1 gains entry into some degrees. Completion of ABE Advanced Diploma gains exemptions from Year 1 & 2 of BA (Hons) International Business Administration, BBA (Hons) Management and BA (Hons) Business Accounting. These options are exclusively available at School of Accounting and Management.

3) Persons completing the Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma are granted U.K. Certificates for each stage of the programme. These Certificates / Diplomas can be used to obtain employment or for promotion in one's job.

4) Students completing the ABE will have acquired a wide range of skills and will therefore be able to obtain employment in a variety of fields.

1) Introduction to Business

2) Introduction to Quantitative Methods

3) Introduction to Accounting

4) Introduction to Business Communication


Entry Requirements

Open entry, but it is recommended that students should have completed secondary school.

Benefits of ABE Certificate

1) Apart from obtaining a Certificate at the end of this level a person can also gain entry into 1 of 5 BA Degree Programmes: BA Marketing, BA Business Accounting, BA International Business Administration, BA Management, BA Information Management.

2) ABE Certificate students gain entry into Professional Accountancy. They can enter the CGA "Certified General Accountants" Program and obtain a Degree in Accounting while studying for Chartered Accountancy.

ABE - Diploma in Business Management - Part I [Top]


Four Compulsory Subjects

1) Economic Principles and their Application to Business

2) Organisational Behaviour

3) Financial Accounting

4) Quantitative Methods for Business and Management

Entry Requirements [Any 1 of the Following]

1) Persons must be at least 18 years of age with at least 3 O' levels and 2 A' Levels

2) Completion of the ABE Certificate Programme

3) Any NVQ approved qualifications at level three (3) in appropriate subjects.

4) MATURE ENTRY ROUTE

(a) Persons over 21 years of age without a formal entry qualification but with two (2) years appropriate work experience. Evidence of employment must be supplied by employer.

(b) Other qualifications are also assessed on an individual basis and appropriate exemptions granted.

ABE - Diploma in Business Management - Part II [Top]

Four Compulsory Subjects [plus one optional]

1) Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication 

2) Human Resource Management

3) Management in Action

Plus any two from the following options

4) Principles of Business Law

5) Systems Analysis and Design

6) Managerial Accounting

 

Entry Requirements [Same Prerequisites as Diploma 1]
The modules in Diploma 2 can be done in conjunction with the modules in Diploma 1. Students may start Diploma 2 and then pursue Diploma 1.

ABE - Advanced Diploma in Business Management [Top]

Three Compulsory Subjects [plus 2 optional]

1) Corporate Strategy and Planning

2) Management in Organisations

3) International Business Case Study

Plus two from the following options:

4) Strategic Marketing Management

5) Corporate Finance

6) Strategic Human Resource Management for Business Organization

7) Managing the Information Resource

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS [ any 1 of the following]

1) ABE Diploma in Business Administration Parts 1 & 2

2) A Degree, awarded by a recognised UK or Overseas University

3) Other recognised qualifications of approved Overseas Institution of Higher Education.

* Tuition Fee is free for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago once student has completed a GATE application form complete with a copy of your Birth Certificate or valid National ID or a valid Passport.

REGISTRATION [Top]

REGISTRATION WITH CTSCBCS

  • Students typically register at the beginning of each semester. There is a registration fee of TT$100.00
  • Semester I [January to June] starts roughly in the third week of January.
  • Semester II [June to December] starts roughly in the third week of June.

REGISTRATION WITH ABE

Closing date for registration and examination fees are posted on ABE's website [http://www.abeuk.com] however CTSCBCS usually assists students with the submission of all Registration and Examination Forms. The procedure allows students to complete their bank drafts with all examination and registration fees and submit this along with their completed registration and examination entry forms to CTSCBCS by early March [Semester I] and mid August[Semester II] and we will assist in having these forms couriered to the examining body. Kindly liaise with Administration for actual dates for submission.
